WE NEED A FASTER WAY TO END POVERTY. AND THAT STARTS WITH WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS.
Investing in women entrepreneurs is a potential game-changer when it comes to ending poverty. However, women have been held back and denied the same access to resources as men. To end poverty for all, we need to change that.
We’re on a mission to power one million women entrepreneurs and impact 100 million people in their communities.
And we're doing it with a fury.
We unveiled Project Fury on September 23 at the Concordia Summit in NYC. Now that we are live, you are encouraged to share the big news.
With the right support, women are unstoppable. And poverty is endable.
Evidence shows that when women control more household income, children benefit as a result of more spending on food and education.
Women start businesses that solve community problems.
They invest in their families.
They have a clear vision for the future.
Over the next 10 years, we plan to power 1 million women entrepreneurs and impact 100 million people.
HOW WE'LL DO IT:
iDE BUILDS RESILIENT MARKET ECOSYSTEMS WHERE COMMUNITIES CAN THRIVE
Our strength has always been designing and implementing programs that promote the resilience of local market ecosystems. For entrepreneurs to thrive we build pathways enabling them to achieve financial literacy, readiness to access capital and scale their businesses. With our new strategy, iDE will begin developing new partnerships to reach more women in different sectors and recruit them as iDE-powered entrepreneurs.
iDE BREAKS DOWN BARRIERS FOR WOMEN AND UNLOCKS OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL ENTREPRENEURS
To begin breaking down barriers and promote gender equity, we will pilot programming focused on engaging women entrepreneurs, expand our scope by engaging women in different communities and ethnic groups, and create new opportunities for women entrepreneurs in new sectors.
iDE CREATES A SAFE AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL TO PRACTICE ENTREPRENEURSHIP
We will work with strategic partners to transform local market ecosystems, promoting both male and female entrepreneurs, integrating the latest social and behavior change approaches to shift perceptions and destigmatize work for women in certain sectors. As a thought leader, we are also creating operational and safeguarding standards that support the principle of “Do No Harm” and promote equity.
What We Do
iDE’s mission is to end global poverty, and we believe catalyzing the power of local markets is the best way to do this. We work with local entrepreneurs, with a focus on women, who connect underserved, last-mile markets with products and services that enable people to move up the economic ladder, and that contribute to their wellbeing. Rather than providing cookie-cutter “solutions” that only last for the short term, iDE spends the time required to really understand problems and to co-develop lasting solutions adapted to each context. We work in the sectors of agriculture, WASH, nutrition and climate change resilience across 12 countries in Latin America, Africa, and Asia, and we have impacted more than 40 million people to date.
iDE has made an impact in the lives of nearly 40 million people in the past four decades, boosting incomes, improving wellbeing, and creating lasting change. We strive for a ten-fold return, meaning that every dollar invested in iDE results in at least an additional $10 in annual income or livelihood improvements for the people we work with.
