iDE at Concordia During the UN’s 80th Meeting
iDE at UNGA80 with highlights market-driven climate solutions
International Development Enterprises (iDE) joined heads of state, business leaders, and leading civil society organizations in New York City, during the 80th United Nations General Assembly Week (UNGA), to advance solutions that place entrepreneurs at the center of climate resilience and sustainable development.
At the Concordia Summit, held on the margins of UNGA week, as part of Climate Week 2025, iDE staff including Michael Roberts, interim CEO, Caitlin Warkentin, vice president of fund development; Camille May, senior communications officer, Dana Camp Smith, senior director of global nutrition, Michael Mangano, director, agriculture and market systems director, and Hannah Moorhouse, senior manager, fund development, participated in discussions and roundtables ranging from topics on how technology, finance, and market access can enable entrepreneurs to build resilient livelihoods, to AI in development contexts. The events joined many side events held as part of Climate Week 2024, an annual week of events bringing together business leaders, policymakers, activists, and other stakeholders to accelerate climate action and promote a green economy.
Mangano and Moorhouse also joined Citi Foundation’s Global Innovation Challenge, meeting with fellow grantees to explore how community-based entrepreneurship and collaboration can accelerate innovation and broaden impact. Later in the week, Mangano participated in “Regenerative Landscapes” at Regen House, hosted by the Rockefeller Foundation. The session examined how catalytic philanthropy can unlock financing to drive large-scale transitions in regenerative agriculture across Kenya, India, Brazil, and the United States.
“We were pleased to join Concordia alongside our partners, and to participate in events surrounding UNGA Week,” said Roberts. “With more than 40 years of experience, we’ve seen that markets are a powerful tool for fostering prosperity. By building value chains in remote areas, we enable people to access beneficial products, plant climate-resilient crops, and secure nutritious food, clean water, and sanitation.”
