iDE recently welcomed Michael Roberts as Interim CEO. Michael brings 37 years of experience in water resource engineering and international development, including 25 years with iDE. He began as the first Director of iDE Canada before spending nearly two decades leading our Cambodia office, where he managed a team of over 300 people and developed award-winning, market-based programs in agriculture, water supply, and sanitation. His work in Cambodia laid the foundation for several of iDE’s most influential innovations that are now central to programs across the globe. Most recently, Michael served as the Paul Polak Innovation Fund Director, where he supported a pipeline of high-impact ideas to accelerate progress toward iDE’s goals. His long-time leadership of Hydrologic, iDE’s social enterprise that transitioned a donor-funded project into a successful ceramic water filter business, reflects his deep commitment to scalable, market-driven solutions. Michael and his wife are adjusting to life as empty-nesters now that their three adult children have set out on their own. When he’s not immersed in iDE’s work, he enjoys hiking, architecture, and creating things with his 3D printer.
