Filagot holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from Addis Ababa University College of Commerce (Ethiopia). She worked for several other organizations before she was employed by iDE. She started working with iDE as Project Finance and Administration Officer in 2012. Before she took up her current role as Finance Director in 2015, she worked as  Senior Accountant and as Finance Manager.
