DENVER, CO — iDE and its Board of Directors are announcing that Tim Prewitt is stepping down as CEO to start his next chapter. Over the past 6 years, Tim has fostered a culture of professionalism, innovation, and entrepreneurship within iDE, improving the lives of millions of rural poor and influencing the larger international development community with iDE’s market-based approach.

“iDE has grown in every way under Tim’s leadership: personnel, revenue, impact, and reputation. He has developed and led a committed team, each of whom plays an integral role in the success of our organization. While we will miss Tim, I am excited by what he will leave behind—the dramatic progress being made towards iDE’s 20 Million More strategy, the dynamism of our offices around the world, and the capable and talented team in our headquarters.”

— Bob Hill, Chair of the iDE Board of Directors

Tim envisioned and led great strides for iDE, leading the global team to create a bold strategy which accelerated iDE’s impact and reached more than 10 million new customers with a product or service. Tim’s legacy also leaves an organization with robust evidence and analytics, growth in social enterprises, stronger financial systems, and innovative partnerships with the private sector.

The Board of Directors is in the process of identifying and selecting a new CEO to take iDE into the next phase of growth. A CEO transition committee of active board members, chaired by Kim Hunter, was formed immediately after Tim made the internal announcement. To ensure a smooth transition Tim will continue to serve until the new CEO is appointed.

“I am truly heartened by where iDE sits right now, and particularly with the strength of our staff. It is the favorable state of our organization that has helped me make this important decision. iDE is well positioned to continue making extraordinary impact. I am excited by the next chapter, for both iDE and myself, and I believe that now is the time for new leadership for the next phase of growth.”

— Tim Prewitt
