"I wonder if..."  —Yi Wei

Yi is a social innovator passionately dedicated to making the world a better place by bringing together great ideas, stellar people, and aligning incentives to achieve maximum positive impact. Her vision of perfect is a day in which the term "social business" is redundant. With expertise in human centered design, microfinance, and social entrepreneurship, Yi has been a part of iDE’s work in sanitation, clean water, and hygiene since its inception. She was instrumental in growing the Cambodian flagship sanitation program to a global portfolio of six countries that is the largest rural sanitation market development program delivering improved latrines in the sector to date.

Yi stepped down as iDE’s Global WASH Director in May 2019, but continues to support iDE in an advising role. Yi has a B.A. in Social Studies from Harvard University and is a Civic Scholar at UChicago Booth’s MBA program. She was once an aspiring professional percussionist, having shared the stage with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma, Bela Fleck, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In her spare time, she likes to spend time in the mountains with her bernedoodle, Allan, and play board games with friends.
